Major Updates Starting Today
Today's the day we start rearranging the gym. If things look chaotic, that's because they are.
We're making room for a significant equipment upgrade—new machines arriving over the next two weeks that will transform how you train. Some areas will be temporarily disrupted. Some machines will be out of commission for a few days while cables get replaced. We appreciate your patience while we make this happen.
Here's what's going down:
Today (December 14): The Big Move
Half the Paramount selectorized machines from the lower level are moving upstairs to what used to be the spin room. The Hammer Strength plate-loaded equipment from the main floor is heading downstairs. Some cardio is relocating to a new room upstairs (between yoga and the new strength room). This will take all day, and some machines may need cable repairs before they're back online—our cable guy is already on standby. Yes, we have a cable guy. No, not that kind.
December 18-19: New Equipment Arrives
This is where it gets exciting.
The lower level is getting a full Hoist Roc-It selectorized circuit—machines that use ROX technology to continuously adjust your position throughout the movement. The result is better biomechanics, more core engagement, and a workout that feels more natural than traditional fixed machines. We're creating dedicated lower-body and upper-body training areas with this equipment.
Also arriving: a Hoist Dual Action Smith Machine. Unlike traditional Smith machines that only move vertically, this one moves horizontally and vertically at the same time—mimicking natural lifting mechanics. Nine racking positions, adjustable safety tiers, and it can handle up to 540 lbs of exercise weight.
Two True Fitness recumbent ellipticals—seated cardio that reduces strain on your back and joints while still delivering a full elliptical workout with PowerStroke technology for deeper leg extension. New dumbbells and benches for the small lower room.
December 22: FreeMotion Coach Bikes
Three of these are coming in, and they're not your standard spin bikes. The Coach Bikes feature a 22-inch HD touchscreen with thousands of on-demand workouts led by elite coaches. The bike auto-adjusts incline (up to 20%) and decline (down to -10%) to match the on-screen terrain—so when you're virtually climbing in the Alps, you're actually climbing. You can also create your own routes using Google Maps and the bike will match the terrain. Studio classes, destination rides, personal training—all built in.
Coming Soon (Date TBD)
A turf area on the lower level with sleds and ropes. Plus four new Hammer Strength plate-loaded pieces: a Pendulum-X Squat (designed to reduce knee strain while maximizing hip extension—the "X" stands for full hip extension), a Ground Base Multi-Squat (supports squats, lunges, and single-leg work with an open floor design), a Super Fly (chest training with flat-to-decline positioning and FreedomFly back pads for unrestricted shoulder movement), and a Seated Dip.
Room Transformations
The old spin room becomes a strength room. The old private training room becomes a cardio room. The lower level gets reorganized into dedicated training zones.
Spin Bikes For Sale
If you want to bring the spin experience home, bikes are available for $500 each. They've served us well. Give them a good home where they'll be ridden more than once a year in January. Ask at the front desk.
Holiday Hours
Christmas Eve: 5am – 12pm
Christmas Day: CLOSED (even gains deserve a day off)
New Year's Eve: 5am – 4pm
New Year's Day: 5am – 10pm
The Bottom Line
The next few weeks will be messy. Equipment will move. Some things won't work temporarily. Please be patient with us—and with each other.
But when the dust settles, you'll have access to commercial-grade equipment that most gyms don't carry. This is a substantial investment in your training options, and we're excited to see what you do with it.
Thanks for sticking with us through the chaos,
Your West Coast Fitness Family
PS: In the email we sent about the West Coast Gorillas, I downplayed the actual talent and experience that the players had, even from their high school years. These guys were crushing it then and are still crushing it, and deserve respect where respect is due.
