Your Next Workout Just Got Wilder 🏞️

We're all feeling it: Summer is here. And you're in one of the most beautiful places in the US. 🥹 So you don't miss out on experiencing the beauty of nature this year, we recommend...

Trailhead Training: Foundations for Hiking & Backpacking

We're partnering with Alyssa to launch a small-group training program built for hikers and backpackers who love being on a trail and would love it even more if their body stopped acting surprised every time the elevation changes.

Alyssa is a Certified Personal Trainer, Certified Nutrition Coach, and Wilderness First Responder — which means she's qualified to get you ready for the backcountry and trained to handle emergencies once you're out there. She's been backpacking and hiking for years, with Mt. Baker as her go-to because every hike there feels like the most scenic place she's ever been (and because she can bring her dog, which feels like the real reason).

What the training actually looks like

There's a gap between gym-strong and trail-strong that most people don't think about until they're a few miles into something with a pack on their back and a switchback that won't end. Regular gym routines build strength, but they don't specifically prepare you for hauling 30 pounds up a ridgeline while trying to enjoy the view instead of counting your own heartbeats.

Alyssa's program is built around what the trail actually asks of your body. You'll carry real weight across uneven ground, build the kind of single-leg strength that makes descents feel controlled instead of chaotic, train your core to keep a loaded pack from slowly turning you into a human question mark by hour four, and develop the endurance to hold your pace deep into a hike when the scenery is finally getting good. Everything happens in the outdoor workout space, because training for the outdoors should at least involve the sun.

This is the kind of program that makes the difference between finishing a hike and enjoying the whole thing — summit to trailhead, including the walk back to the car.

Free workshop: July 6th

If any of this sounds like something you need in your life, the July 6th workshop is the place to start — come meet Alyssa, learn about the training, and hear about what trail-ready actually looks like. It's an hour of your time, it's free, and it's a pretty honest preview of what the full program involves.

If it clicks, the full program runs August 17th through September 23rd on Mondays and Wednesdays — 12 sessions total, capped at just 6 people so the coaching stays personal, at $516 for the full run. Six spots is all there is for this round, so if you're even a little curious, the workshop is a low-risk way to find out before they fill up.

Summer's too short and the trails are too good to spend them wishing you'd trained for this 😅

Helping you move mountains,
Your West Coast Fitness Family

PS: If you're more of an indoors kind of person, Alyssa is also availble for personal training inside as well, AND it comes with free air conditioning!
