We're Saying the M Word

After last week's newsletter about gym etiquette, we realized we might have come off like the gym police. To be fair, someone did try to use the cable machine as a swing set, but still. We promise we're fun. Sometimes. 😜

To prove it, let's talk about something actually helpful: a workshop that addresses what nobody talks about in fitness spaces.

Moving Through Menopause: A Workshop That Everyone Can Learn From

January 24th, 2-5pm at West Coast Fitness. $40. Three hours that might change how you think about midlife fitness forever.

Erika Levy and Autumn Carpenter are bringing the conversation nobody's having: why your workouts feel different now, why strategies that worked in your 30s are betraying you in your 40s and 50s, and why the fitness industry pretends menopause doesn't exist.

They're both perimenopausal, deeply rooted in fitness, and tired of the information vacuum around women's midlife changes. After completing continuing education specifically focused on fitness and menopause, they're bringing real talk and real solutions.

What Actually Happens

First, a research-informed conversation about how hormonal shifts impact:Strength (spoiler: it's not all downhill 💪)Energy and recovery (why you're exhausted after workouts that used to energize you)Pelvic floor function (the stuff your doctor should've mentioned)Body composition (why your jeans fit differently even though the scale hasn't moved)

Then, a 90-minute workout focused on lower body, core, and pelvic floor—designed to build strength and body awareness, not destroy you for Instagram.

Who This Is For

Women navigating perimenopause through post-menopauseAnyone returning after childbirth or surgeryThose preparing for midlifeAnyone who's noticed their body playing by different rules lately

All fitness levels welcome. Seriously. This isn't about proving anything—it's learning what actually works for your body now.

What You'll Leave With

Understanding of how midlife changes affect your fitness. Actual guidance for structuring workouts that support strength, bone health, and longevity. And the revelation that consistency and resistance training matter more than going beast mode.

Meanwhile, in Equipment News 🔧

Quick update from the whiteboard of chaos:

Cardio 2 is having a moment. The new area, not the original. Waiting for our internet provider to reconfigure some mysterious settings. The bikes work! The internet doesn't! Modern problems. 🤷

AstroTurf glue needs curing time: 3-4 days before use. Your glutes' patience is appreciated. 🍑

New Hammer Strength equipment: Still about a month out. We're as excited as you are. Maybe more.

The Bottom Line

We're hosting important conversations about women's health while simultaneously fighting with internet providers about cardio equipment. It's called multitasking.

The workshop is genuinely valuable—Erika and Autumn know their stuff and aren't afraid to talk about the things that matter. The equipment will eventually work. Your patience is golden. ✨

We're here for you,
Your West Coast Fitness Family

PS - Autumn actually does more than lead workshops about menopause. She's also a yoga instructor AND a personal trainer. So not only does she know her stuff, she can help you hit your goals every step of the way.

PPS - We still want you to rerack your weights. But we'll add a please and a smiley face next time. 😊 Promise.
