Sean Brady

NASM Certified Persoanl Trainer

Growing up, sports were a major part of my life. From the age of five all the way until the end of high school, I was competing. The experiences and lessons gained from competing will forever be priceless but my passion towards sports was not nearly as strong as my passion towards understanding reality. I begun studying Biochemistry at Portland State in pursuit of this passion. I became educated on the biochemical processes that occur in all life, which led me down a path to explore how these fundamental processes affect our health. Simultaneously, my enjoyment from physical activity persisted after my time as a high school athlete, as I continued weightlifting, running, and recreational athletics.

Soon enough, my ground up approach to understand the complicated fundamentals of life caught up with my enjoyment of physical activity. Here, I gained a true fundamental understanding to why physical activity is crucial for one’s well-being. I started applying my knowledge of fitness and nutrition to my life, and the results were (and continue to be) amazing.

I obtained my personal training certificate through NASM while continuing my education at Portland State. Soon after I became a fitness instructor taking groups through intense full body work outs. Here, I quickly learned how individuals’ lifestyles can negatively impact their ability to perform movements; which consequently can lead to problems down the road. Hence, my goal as a trainer is to address lifestyle patterns in order to establish a foundation with which we can build a strong house around in order to not only meet your goals but to help you live a more sustainably enjoyable life.

Meghan Field

NASM Certified Personal Trainer, NASM Corrective Exercise Specialization

Fitness for me started back when I was in first grade and my dad signed me up for a tee-ball team in North Portland. Growing up playing softball taught me a lot about teamwork and the importance one individual can make. Unfortunately I suffered a meniscus tear in my right knee when I was 23 and haven’t been able to play ball at the same intensity I used to. I became a Personal Trainer back in 2016, after I graduated from Portland State with my Bachelors in Geography. I worked at West Coast Fitness for a year as a trainer before going off and volunteering in Public Health as an AmeriCorps VISTA for a year in Pendleton, OR. While my entire life has been full of movement and activity, the one year behind a desk taught me about common ailments that I never imagined would plague my body. With this new knowledge, I was invigorated to learn about Corrective Exercise and get my next certification on top of my NASM.

My experience working in this gym offered me a great opportunity back in 2016 to learn and grow as a newly certified trainer. I taught group fitness classes for adults and seniors as well as one-on-one training. My goal as a trainer is to help you feel comfortable in the gym environment, learn how to use the equipment but also be able to take that confidence and use it out in your personal life. A few areas that I have experience in is strength training, flexibility, balance, and sport related injuries.

NASM Certified Personal Trainer, NASM Corrective Exercise Specialist

I have always been drawn to physical activity and competing in sports. Over the years it has evolved from ice hockey and soccer, to climbing mountains and skiing.  These activities have led to numerous injuries, recoveries, and ultimately a deep passion for understanding how the body functions. I also enjoy keeping up with research in cardiac disease, fluid dynamics, and innovative treatments because humans are so complex. After healing from a chronic back injury, I was inspired to become a trainer and focus on helping others heal themselves. Casey is non-binary and uses they/them pronouns.

My experience training clients has included:

-athletes building strength while preventing injuries

-people experiencing chronic pain/old injuries to reduce compensation imbalances

-people who find the gym environment intimidating/overwhelming

-people who want to find exercises they actually enjoy

Megan Verbout

NASM Certified Personal Trainer

My passion for fitness began with my involvement in athletics at a very young age. I participated in softball, soccer, basketball, and ran cross country at Roosevelt High School where I graduated in 2015. I then went on to play softball at Linfield College. After having my second knee surgery, my participation in organized athletics came to an abrupt halt. This inspired me to acquire knowledge that would benefit not only my rehabilitation efforts after surgery, but also my level of fitness. It was during this time that I decided to begin working as a Personal Trainer. I graduated with my Bachelor of Science in physical activity and health during the summer of 2019 and shortly after began pursuing a second bachelor’s degree in Nursing.

As a trainer, it is my goal to simultaneously assist my clients in reaching toward their goals in the gym while also developing habits that will contribute to lifelong health and wellness. I will provide a source of motivation, accountability, encouragement, and education for each of my clients, fueling their fitness journey.
